What is an Automated Guided Vehicle?
An Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) is a vehicle that navigates by itself. This without any human intervention because it’s the vehicle that moves autonomously without driver.
The vehicles are an essential part of the AGV system. Without these automated devices, we would not have an automated guided vehicle system. AGVs are in charge of performing transportation tasks or missions. AGVs typically transport materials from A to B.
Besides the AGVs are a part of a more complex structure, the AGV System is mainly composed by:
- Automated Guided Vehicles
- AGV Management System
- Peripherals of the AGV system (plcs, opcs, etc)
- AGV environement: wifi, wms, erp, mes, operator interfaces, etc.
